海外から日本に来た旅行者に声をかけ、インタビューをし、レシートを頂戴して切り絵した作品になります。
海外の人から見た日本の面白さを表現した作品になっています。

ゴジラのTシャツをお土産に購入されたレシートとのことだったので、Tシャツの形にして、真ん中に大きくゴジラを切り抜きました。
大阪の思い出を話されていたので、頭には大阪名物"たこ焼き"を乗せています。

※こちらの作品は印字された文字が比較的早く薄くなっています。
今現在は4枚目の額装された状態に近いです。

「タダのカミ様」とは

作者が生活を送る上で得たレシートをメディアとして、そこに印字された商品名や店名を残しながら、その言葉の意味から連想された形の神様を切り出した作品になります。

物欲の証拠とも言えるレシートを神様のフォルムにして浄化しています。

※レシートは感熱紙のため、長い年月を経て、印字された文字が薄くなったり消える性質を持っています。その姿はまるで物欲が昇天されたようにも見えます。経過とともに作品をお楽しみください。

タナカマコト tanakamacoto 切り絵作家
細かな下書きはせず、フリーハンドで切り絵を制作。
レシートや書籍に印字された言葉を残しながら形を切り抜いたり、写真を切り抜くことで、媒体のもつ意味と切り抜かれた形を関連づける独自のスタイルで活躍する。

主な受賞に、「SICF20」グランプリ(spiral)（2019）。

Kami-Sama of the Godzilla store, 2025

This artwork was created by cutting up receipts from travelers who visited Japan, and is based on interviews with them.
They shared stories about their experiences and interests, seen through their eyes from outside Japan.

As they bought a Godzilla T-shirt as a souvenir, this piece is made in the shape of a T-shirt and cut out a large Godzilla in the center.
They shared memories of Osaka, so a takoyaki is added— a famous local specialty — on his head.

About “Kami-Sama”, originally “Tadano-Kami-Sama”
This artwork uses receipts — kami in Japanese, meaning "paper" — collected from the artist’s daily life as a medium. While preserving printed elements such as product names and store names, she cuts out deities — also kami in Japanese, meaning "deity" or "god" — inspired by the meanings of those words.

By transforming receipts — which can be seen as evidence of desire — into the forms of deities, the work becomes a kind of ritual that purifies material greed.

Note: Since the receipts are printed on thermal paper, the printed text will fade or disappear over years. This fading looks as though the material desires are ascending or being purified. I hope you will enjoy the artwork as it changes over time.

Tanaka Macoto creates paper-cutting artworks freehand, without detailed preliminary sketches. By cutting shapes while preserving the words printed on receipts and books, or by cutting out photographs, she connects the meanings of the medium with the forms cut out, developing a unique style.
